When developing a new app, there are outcomes no team wants to encounter, including a bloated, delayed project that’s consumed far more hours and budget dollars than originally planned or a final product that the market has no interest in. While it’s likely every tech company will occasionally release products that don’t have the full market impact the team had hoped, it is possible to avoid costly, “road to nowhere” projects that deplete both resources and team morale without providing any real ROI.

Forbes Technology Council Post Coverage
From overlooking what users really need to not clearly defining a roadmap before beginning, there are multiple missteps app development teams can make that can lead to drains on both time and budget. 15 members of Forbes Technology Council discuss common ways app development projects bleed resources and how these problems can be corrected.
While many will focus on good, common practices such as planning, managing scope creep and clarifying acceptance criteria, it is also worthwhile to not ignore testing. Functional testing and automated test development and their relationship to code quality can help eliminate waste, especially when projects are dependent on third-party libraries that are constantly updated (such as the log4j vulnerability). – Jim Barrett, CEO Edge Total Intelligence
